Your data
Deleting your data.
Everything in Parampara is yours to remove, whenever you like. You can delete one entry, one file, or one family member's access without closing your account. You can also delete the whole account. Both are below.
Delete individual things (your account stays)
Open Parampara and unlock your vault, then:
- An entry: open it, then tap Delete this entry. The entry and every file attached to it are removed.
- A file: open the entry it belongs to, then tap ✕ beside the file under "Papers".
- A family member's access: go to Family & sharing, open the person, then tap Remove. Their access keys are destroyed and they can see nothing from that moment.
Each of these takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.
Delete your whole account
From inside the app, this is instant:
- Open Parampara and unlock your vault.
- Go to Settings → Delete my account.
- Confirm twice. Everything is erased immediately.
If you have already uninstalled the app: email [email protected] from the address you signed up with, with the subject "Delete my account". We verify it is you, delete the account within 72 hours, and confirm by reply.
What is deleted
- Your account and your sign-in email
- Every encrypted vault entry, and every photo or PDF you attached
- Your family sharing connections and all of their access keys
- Your sign-in history (the times, devices and cities we recorded to protect the account)
- Your recovery record
What is kept, and for how long
- Backups: routine server backups age out within 30 days. Anything from your vault inside them stays encrypted and unreadable without your key, which we never had.
- Anonymous product analytics: records that a screen was opened or that "an entry was added" carry no vault content and no email address, so they cannot be traced back to you after deletion and are retained in aggregate.
- Records we must keep by law: if any legal or accounting duty requires us to retain something, we keep only that, only for as long as the law requires.
Deleting your account is permanent. Because your vault is end-to-end encrypted, we cannot recover any of it afterwards, for you or for anyone else. Please make sure your family no longer needs anything in it before you delete.
